Learning Objectives

with CBMT Board Certification Domains

  • Participants will verbalize how the COE applies to music therapy practice. (CBMT Domain V. B. 2)

  • Participants will demonstrate the ability to use one of the Ethical Decision-Making models presented. (CBMT Domain V. B. 9)

  • Participants will describe two aspects of care ethics and aspirational ethics (CBMT Domain V.A.1).

  • Participants will identify at least 3 ways the AMTA aspirational Code of Ethics informs development of professionalism ( CBMT Domain V.B.1)

Course Schedule

Total of 250 minutes. This is an asynchronous, online course. You can complete the course at your own pace and on your own schedule. Follow the instructions to complete the course evaluation and receive your CMTE certificate.

  • Introduction, types of ethics (40 min.)

  • Code History and Review (30 min.)

  • Practical wisdom (45 min.)

  • Reflection (20 min)

  • Moral wisdom and development (30 min.)

  • Values handouts reflection (20 min.)

  • Ethical decision making models reviewed (25 min.)

  • Discussion & application of ethical decision making models (30 min.)

  • Wrap-up and questions (15 min.)
